Before you search...
The LSDA is a dynamic, constantly evolving
database. While we have made significant progress in archiving the 1132
experiments flown since 1961, we still have a long way to go. While browsing
this site, remember that the experiments are in different phases of completion,
denoted as"archive status".
Archive Status:
Not yet archived- experiment is planned for archival as time and budget
permit
Experiment description available-experiment results are described,
or, in the case of experiments still being conducted, has a preliminary
description--no data are yet available
Some data sets available--some data has been archived but it is not
the complete set of data
Fully archived--experiment is complete in the archive
Experiments Search
Whether this is your first time visiting the
archive or you are a veteran LSDAer, the experiment search is a good place
to begin. Search for experiments by space Payload/Mission, or use the Advanced
Search option if you know exactly what you are looking for. Experiment
search results are grouped into different categories based on their level
of completeness in the archive and whether or not they have data available
online.
Missions Search
Learn about a particular space mission, including
a brief mission description, launch and landing dates, and a list of life
sciences experiments that were on the payload. This is a good place to
start if you are new to the LSDA.
Biospecimens Search
Identify biospecimens that are currently available
for research from NASA, as well as biospecimens that have already been
used for research purposes. See the results display for unassigned biospecimen
ordering information.
Hardware Search
Learn about the hardware items used during
an experiment. Identify a single piece of hardware or a class of hardware
items. Search by hardware name, experiment title, research area, or Payload/Mission.
Each hardware item includes a description and, in most cases, a photograph.
Personnel Search
Displays information about a selected person
and his/her participation in space missions and/or experiments. The Advanced
Search option allows you to search by name, state, payload participation,
experiment, and more.
Documents Search
Identifies documents related to a particular
experiment. The Advanced Search option allows you to search by experiment
title, document type, and payload participation.
Data Sets Search
Displays data sets from life sciences experiments.
You can search by Payload/Mission in the Basic Search or more specific
parameters in the Advanced Search. Search results are separated into three
categories: Available online, Not yet available, and Available offline.
Sessions Search
Browse experiment sessions if you are interested
in the what, where, and when of an experiment. Each session record describes
the different activities involved in gathering data for an experiment,
including the data collection protocols and constraints, plus where and
when each data collection took place.
