The Water Stowage Bags were contained in the Water Experiment Kit (WEK) and were used to hold water collected for chemical and microbiological ground analyses of galley-hot, galley-cold, or ground-supplied water from the Mir Space Station. Experiments utilizing the water stowage bags and WEK were "Trace Chemical Contamination: Water Quality (Phase 1A)," "Collecting Mir Source and Reclaimed Waters for Postflight Analyses," and "Microbiological Investigations of the Mir Space Station and Flight Crew".
