Data Set Name Center for Space Radiation Research - Male C57BL/6 mice exposed to protons, oxygen ions, or gamma-rays
Data Set Description Male C57BL/6 mice were exposed to high-dose rate protons (150 MeV, 0.5 or 1 Gy), oxygen ions (600 MeV/n, 0.01 – 1 Gy), protons (150 MeV, 0.5 Gy) followed after an hour by oxygen ions (600 MeV/n, 0.1 Gy), or gamma-rays (cesium source, 0.5 – 3 Gy). Ultrasound was used to assess cardiac function at multiple time points after irradiation. At 2 weeks, 3 months, and 9 months after irradiation, heart samples were collected and used for histopathology and immunoblotting to assess cardiac injury. Various other tissues were collected for tissue sharing.
