Series Bungee System (SBS) bungees are used as a subject loading device (SLD) during treadmill exercise on the Treadmill with Vibration Isolation and Stabilization (TVIS) treadmill on the International Space Station.

These SBS bungees interface between the subject exercise harness and eye bolts outboard of the treadmill belt (right and left sides). The load setting is adjustable by adding or removing bungee clips to change the initial length of the SBS bungee assembly. The SBS bungees have a stiffness of 5.25 to 7 N/cm (3 to 4 lb/in.) after a stretch of about 13 cm (about 5 inches) from resting initial length (i.e., in their operational range).
