Description

Expedition 52 began June 2, 2017 with the handover of command by Expedition 51 commander Peggy Whitson (NASA) to Expedition 52 commander, Fyodor Yurchikhin (RSA). Whitson and Jack Fischer (NASA) remain aboard as part of the Expedition 52 crew, while Oleg Novitskiy (RSA) and Thomas Pesquet (ESA) have returned to Earth on a Soyuz MS-03 spacecraft.

The three remaining crew continue to operate the station and to perform science research as they look forward to being joined by three additional crew. The Expedition 52 crew will be complete when Randy Bresnik (NASA), Paolo Nespoli (ESA) and Sergey Ryazanskiy (RSA) arrive in July, 2017.

Expedition 52 is expected to conclude in September, 2017.
