Description
Expedition 42 began in early November 2014, with the Expedition 41/42 crew on board: Commander Barry E. Wilmore, NASA; Yelena Serova, RSA; and Alexander Samoukutyayev, RSA. The other half of the team (Expedition 42/43 crew), Anton Shkaplerov, RSA; Terry W. Virts, NASA; and Samantha Cristoforetti, ASI-ESA are scheduled to launch in late November 2014 from Kazakhstan. The Soyuz will dock after a six hour journey, orbiting Earth 4 times, to the International Space Station.

Virts, Shkaplerov and Cristoforetti will remain aboard the station until mid-May 2015. Wilmore, Samokutyaev and Serova, who have been aboard since late September, will return to Earth in early March, leaving Virts in command of Expedition 43.
